My experience at Amazon Go

I read an article on Facebook about Amazon Go and never knew it even existed. It is a convenience store with snacks, lunches, meals and even some alcohol. What makes it unique is that there are no cashiers or cash registers. You walk in and walk out…pretty much like shop lifting but it is legal.

How it works: you must download the Amazon Go App. Before entering the store you must scan it. I had my daughter with me and she did not not have the app so I scanned, she walked in first and then I scanned again and walked in.

We walked around the tiny store. Took about 5 minutes and longer on deciding what cheap thing to buy. It was pricey but it is downtown Seattle. We ended up with a sandwich, drink and cookie and the Amazon Go tote bag. I kept the app open the whole time, nervous it won’t work while trying to take pics.

So after a couple minutes it was time to leave: hoping my app is working and some crazy alarm won’t go off while exiting. We made it and it was simple….just walk out.

Nothing happened and we got out the store in one piece. About a minute after leaving, the app updated and gave my my receipt. Pretty neat experience since it might be the way to shop in the future.

Testing out a New Meal Plan

I hate meal prep. I hate cooking. But after seeing results of my friend who lives across country, I decided to give it a try. No processed food. No macros. No counting anything.

I just spend my whole morning in the kitchen preparing my lunches for the next couple of days. I went shopping yesterday. This was part of my groceries.

I’m actually surprised it wasn’t really that much more. $160 for all my groceries for my family of three for the week.

Make sure to follow my blog to get my review and results!

I’m Back!

It’s been awhile since I’ve been here! I’m back to blogging about life, fitness, shopping, military life etc!

Kealia to Kuaokala Trail (Dillingham)

1069838_10203114196725441_779795658_nKealia to Kuaokala Trail, AKA Dillingham. This is a pretty easy hike- depending how far you go. Most stop at the picnic table and turn around. We continued to Access Road and to Kuaokala Trail. If you do just Kealia, it’s kid friendly. Not too hard, but it does gradually incline. The hills are steeper if you continue on.

Directions: Drive towards Dillingham Air Field. You will see the Skydiving buildings on the left. Take the 3rd entrance/last entrance at the end of the air field. There is a trail sign. Drive maybe 1/4 mile and park in the parking lot to the left.  This is the view from the parking lot.

Parking lot- trail is across the street.

Parking lot- trail is across the street.

After you park, cross the street and continue into the wide open area and follow the road to the left. The first time there was an old car and plane, but they were gone the second time I went.

The trail has 19 switchbacks. Kealia ends at the picnic table.  It took us about 30 minutes to get there, but we were going a steady pace, but not running. After that we continued to Access Road. This is where you get your workout in. We sprinted some of the hills for an extra workout. The pic doesn’t show really how steep the hills are, but they are!

And yes, it’s a pig hunting area……

Stay on the road and follow the Kuaokala signs. There’s one fork that isn’t mark, take the one to the right that goes up and it will come to a dead end. Look to the right and you will see where the trail continues. It’s now a trail and not a road.

The trail that keeps going to Kuaokala.

The trail that keeps going to Kuaokala.

It seems never ending, but keep going and you will come to a pretty cool looking rock structure. Great photo opp!

We kept going past the rocks. You’ll start seeing mores signs that go towards Kealia and to Kuaokala. We kept going until we came down and found a road. It does loop, but it was raining so we turned around.

For some reason, both times it rained! If you decide to continue on, bring a lot of water and snacks! It’s tiring-especially if you decide to run it! It took us about 4 hours. But to Kealia, plan for maybe about 1.5 – 2 hours.

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to my blog! I finally decided to start blogging. I’ve tried this before, but I’m not too good at the technical parts of setting the pages up! Just a little about me, I grew up in WI, but now living in Hawaii-thanks to the Army. My hubby is active duty. I got out in 1999. I was a 92A. We have a 15 year old daughter who I do homeschool for now. We lived in Ft. Irwin, Ft Bragg, Baumholder Germany for 9 years. We haven’t lived in the mainland since 2001:/

I’m a fitness addict. I love weights and Insanity. I’m not a fan of running, but I do it! I ran 2 half marathons and 2 full. My training for the first one consisted of Insanity! I love to hike here in Hawaii and keep myself busy.  I’m currently bulking and doing the Body Beast workout. I’m trying to lean up so I thought this is the way to go!

Follow my fitness journey and I’d love to hear about yours! If you are not on a journey,  lets get on one! Sweat Won’t Hurt You! Hasn’t killed anyone!
