My friends and I did this today, March 18th, 2014. This is a pretty easy hike! It’s only about .5 miles up. But it is up about 2000 feet. It was marked with orange ribbons.
Directions: We drove from H3 and Kam Hwy, passed Kualoa Ranch on our left. Keep going until you see the Crouching Lion Inn and restaurant. Then drive past that until you see the next road- Trout Farm Road. Pictured below is Trout Farm Road and us heading towards Kam Hwy. Park along that road, but make sure not to park too close to houses or mailboxes. Then turn around and head back to Kam Hwy and walk towards the Inn.
You will see a Do Not Pass sign, between the sign and next pole is the trail. It was marked with orange ribbons when we went. Walk to the trail and look left, you will see a ribbon or a tree that fell…you will have to go under or over it. Then just stay on the trail to go up. When you get to the top, take the left towards the rocks, if you make a right into the ridges….that’s a whole different trail and a whole different level…Puu Manamana.
You will come to this:
Just go under it and continue up the trail. Then you will be pretty much at the top. Go up and check out the views! It took us 1 hour to do the whole thing. We stopped a few times for pictures. I would just bring a bottle of water and a snack.
